Cynthia Dunn-Selph, Mixed Media Artist and Photographer

A daughter of two artists, I have been creating since before I could remember, and believe that is the purpose of life itself.  I have studied at the San Fransisco Art Academy, the University of California - San Fransisco, various community colleges and have been mentored along the way by many other incredible artists.  I received my first camera (a Polaroid) in 1967 and have been taken photographs ever since.  Wanting to evolve my photography led me to working with the encaustic medium. Encaustics led to cold wax and oil paint, and on it goes.

I served on the governing board for the City of Oakland Studio One art center as Treasurer, where I also taught children's art classes and managed the art gallery.  I also was responsible for the gallery at the Art Store in Berkeley, CA, the rotating exhibits at the Mighty Cup coffeehouse in Glendale, AZ, and was the Gallery Coordinator of the Amador Arts Gallery in Sutter Creek, CA.  I was on the board of the Amador County Artists Association as Treasurer, and a Co-Op member of the Sutter Creek Gallery, Sutter Creek, CA and of the Co-Op Local, in Plymouth, CA. I am also a member of the Sierra Wax Artists. After moving to Arizona I was on the board of Ground Floor Artists in Surprise, AZ, a non-profit artist studio space and gallery where I served as Treasurer, Newsletter Editor, and Gallery Coordinator. I am currently a board member and the Workshop Coordinator of the Arizona Artist Guild in Phoenix, AZ. I continue to teach and exhibit as the opportunities present themselves.
